What is this?
A map of the electronic music world and its nearest offshoots built from real artist-relatedness data: 5,322 artists positioned based on audience listenership and colored to keep regions distinct. This is a tool for fans to explore how artists and scenes relate to each other and to discover new music.
Why isn't an artist I know on the map?
There are three major reasons: 1) the artist may not have been "discovered" yet via its pre-existing peers 2) The artist may exists in an island of listenership that's too distant from other artists to be discovered 3) The artist may not have enough connects to appear. Each artists must have a minimum of 2 connects to appear on the map.
Does this work on my phone?
Yes, it should: pinch to zoom and tap a dot to spotlight it, or use the search feature. The scene-index side bar along the right edge is desktop only and thus isn't shown on mobile, to keep the map full-screen.
Can I use this with a screen reader or keyboard only?
Not yet. The map's canvas currently has no keyboard operation and no text alternative. This is a known, open gap, not an intentional design choice. It's gap is an open item to resolve.
Is this made or endorsed by Spotify?
No. It's an independent project built from artist-relatedness data, in the spirit of Spotify's own “Fans Also Like” framing, but not produced or reviewed by Spotify.
How current is the data?
This snapshot is from 2026-08-13. The map is refreshed monthly.
